Features
We offer many great designs and our service allows you to change your site to suit. Your website should reflect you, your clinic and your treatment philosophy. We make this easy.
There’s more to it than that, but we worry about these things so you don’t have to. Our system takes care of many things behind the scenes automatically, that would normally be hard. The result is a website that works for you.
Below we talk about features that are:
- Essential – You need these features for a successful site.
- Important – These features aren’t absolutely necessary to have a great website, but they’re pretty important.
- Convenient/Nice-to-Have – Little details that can make a big difference in how easy it is to use your site.
- Extra Goodies – These extras aren’t for everyone, but you may really like them.
By the way, if there’s any feature not listed, our system is amazingly flexible. Chances are we support it. Please contact us to check.
Essential
These features are not optional – they’re required for a successful site.
Domain Name
A domain name is the web address of your site. For example, AcupunctureInQueens.com. Many places charge for this, we reserve it for you for free.
On page SEO
It’s not enough to have a website. People must be able to find your site… and become patients. Most people find websites using the search engines.
SEO is “search engine optimization”. Most web services ignore this and leave you to your own devices. We have all the features for making sure your site plays nicely with the search engines. We also take care of creating and submitting your sitemap to the search engines.
Off page SEO
We provide a complete list for where to register your website so people can find you. Most of the sites on this list are free to use. This also makes the search engines take your site more seriously. The more links you have, the higher your site will rank in the search engines. The higher you you rank, the more people will visit your website.
Easy Changes
Our system allows you to change your site almost as easily as sending an email. If you change your office hours or go on vacation, you need to be able to communicate this. Instead of waiting for your “web guy” to get back to you (and charge $$$), you can easily fix things yourself in 2 to 5 minutes. It really is that easy.
Support
Too many web designers take your money and run. Some do this before even setting up your site! We’re always here for you. We also offer easy-to-follow videos that are just 2-3 minutes long. Read about Robin Green, L.Ac.’s experience (opens in a new window).
Upgrades, Maintenance and Hosting
We upgrade, maintain and back up your site behind the scenes. We also provide the hosting. Many designers will give you a site, and you’ll have to host it yourself.
Important
These features are important, but not required. You can get by without them.
Email address
yourname@YourClinic.com looks much better and more professional than afried123@sbcglobal.net. If your email address doesn’t look professional, it’s not only less likely to be taken seriously, it’s also more likely to make people think your email is spam.
Contact Form
Even if you do have an email address that looks professional, guard it carefully. Never, ever put your email address on your website. One healer did this. Big mistake! It was harvested by spam-bots and she had three screens of spam within a week. We provide a contact form to let people easily contact you, while keeping your email protected.
Newsletter/Autoresponder
We support newsletters and autoresponders. Some suggested vendors are:
- GetResponse
- Aweber
- Acufinder’s newsletter – Often overlooked, it comes free with your acufinder subscription.
Newsletter
A newsletter is a great way to accomplish many things:
- Keep top-of-mind awareness with patients so when they think of health care, they think of you.
- Educate patients so they know what you can treat (Which is almost always more than they realized)
- Remind people who keep forgetting to make an appointment.
- Build trust through ongoing exposure.
Autoresponder
An autoresponder is much like an email newsletter, but isn’t as well known. It’s essentially an automated followup series of emails. You basically set up a sequence of emails to be sent once a week or once every two weeks, educating people about your clinic and what you can do for them. Instead of dumping everything on them at once, you give them a little bit to think about at a time.
Autoresponders can actually be more powerful than an email newsletter, especially because you can write them once and they’ll educate patients for years to come.
Convenient / Nice to Have
These features aren’t essential, but they’re very
Your site set up in one day.
Most of the time, we have your site up and running within 8 hours. On rare occasions, it takes longer than 24 hours. We’re able to do this because we created a program to automate creating your site. It takes information such as your clinic name, phone number, address, etc. and loads it into the site.
Unlimited number of pages
You can easily add pages for conditions you specialize in. Or success stories from patients. Or articles about acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. Or… whatever you want.
Unlimited number of photos
Our system lets you upload photos and insert them into pages. Here’s an example:
Add videos
I wasn’t even sure we supported this, but Robin Green at Morgan Hill Wellness found it to be super easy. She just cut and pasted some code from YouTube and MSNBC to show these videos.
Add Sound
Guillermo (“Gee”) D’Acosta signed up for AudioAcrobat, and put a soundtrack on his site. We had no idea – Someone who was thinking about using our site told us. It’s easy, and you can use their free account.
Extra Goodies
Random Testimonials
Testimonials are one of the most effective persuaders, ever. This feature allows your patients to brag about you on every page of your site.
PDF/Ebooks
Putting Ebooks on your site is trivial. While editing your page, simply click the media link and you’ll be prompted to upload a file. It will automatically be inserted on the page for you. Many website clients use Kevin Doherty’s Thriving In The Modern World ebook – he lets you have co-author credits.
Favicon
← See this little icon in the address bar of your browser right now? If you have an image/photo, we’ll turn it into a favicon for you – a little image that shows up next to your web address and in people’s bookmarks.
Prewritten pages
We pre-write all the pages, such as FAQ, contact form, conditions treated, etc. This allows your site to be ready within a day. You can use these pages as is, or as a starting point for your own site.
The only pages that aren’t automatically created for you are your “About” page, the maps page (Takes 3-5 minutes), and the page with your office hours.
Online appointment booking
We spent almost 10 hours looking all over at different appointment booking software. Many required the patient to jump through hoops. Others required the healer to jump through hoops. Genbook.com had the friendliest user interface, and required just three simple screens for a booking.
Other website clients use myreceptionist.com, which is designed for alternative practitioners.
SMS of new email messages
Maybe you don’t check email often. Or you want to be extra responsive. For most cell services, we can set it up so that your email messages are also copied to your cell phone.
What’s Not Supported
Online Stores – I have yet to see any healer making enough money from their online store to even justify the effort of setting up the store, let alone make a profit. Besides, the number one goal of a website should be to turn people into patients. If you distract them to make a $30 sale, you may lose them as a patient worth $300 or more in revenue.
If you have a book you wrote that you want to sell, this may be the only exception. A book builds your credibility, and we’d be happy to help set up online payment processing, for a one-time $50 fee.
Forums – For an acupuncture clinic, almost all questions and comments should arise in your clinic – not on a website. It’s very hard to have an active forum, even if you’re running a general interest website. Having a forum that’s not active could just make you look bad – it looks like there’s nothing to talk about! So we don’t support this as it may cost you patients.
